Who are we?
In 1985, as little girls, we drove for the first time with our parents in their white Moskvich through a dense forest and across a rushing, sparkling riverbed until we reached stone walls that were in ruins and overgrown with brush.
Our family was looking for a place to build a summer home. We had already visited dozens of farmsteads, but hadn’t found the right one.
Here, deep in the forest on the ruins of the former Matto watermill, we realized this was the place.
Over the next few years, we tamed the wild landscape, restored the reservoir, and—with the help of friends and relatives—built cozy farmhouses from logs we’d cut in our own forest. We also breathed new life into abandoned outbuildings in the vicinity and crafted unique thatched roofs.
As we, the children, grew up, we initially went our separate ways—our studies and work took us to gather new experiences.
Käbliku Farm is a special place for us, and we want to offer visitors to the Käbliku vacation homes an enjoyable environment and memorable experiences.
1985.aastal sõitsime väikeste tüdrukutena esimest korda koos vanemate valge Moskvitšiga läbi tiheda metsa ja üle kärestikulise sillerdava jõesängi, kuni jõudsime varemetes ja võsassemattunud kivimüüride juurde.
Otsisime perega paika, kuhu rajada suvekodu.
Who is käblik?
While the family was looking for a name for the farm, Anne, the mother of the family, spotted a wren (Troglodytes troglodytes) hopping among the piles of branches—a tiny bird with an upright tail and a bright song—one of Estonia’s smallest and most shy birds, which lives mainly in the shelter of the forest.
The Käbliku Farm was named after it.
If you listen carefully, you might even hear the wren singing yourself.
